Sports Car Open announces 24h of Spa with title partner Virtual Racing School and $10.000 prize pool

Munich. International simracing series organizer Sports Car Open, in cooperation with title partner Virtual Racing School, announces the endurance event of the year with the SCO VRS 24h of Spa on the final weekend of July 2021. After collaborating with series partners Morphicon and Racespot on the Sprint Series, Sports Car Open now follows up on its long-standing endurance racing history. The 24h of Spa will spearhead the endurance side of virtual GT racing on the iRacing platform and feature a dedicated prize pool of $10,000.

Per-car qualifying format and dedicated balance of performance return

Following the Sprint Series the SCO VRS 24h of Spa will once again feature the car-based pre-qualifying format with up to 54 entries in total and 9 slots available for each car manufacturer. The dedicated balance of performance hereby ensures equality among all manufacturers while maintaining their individual strengths and weaknesses.

Top 20 Qualifying Shootout to create peak tension for qualifying

Following two 60-Minute qualifying sessions, the Top 20 Qualifying Shootout will only feature the 20 quickest teams. They will send their quickest driver on a single lap on the Ardennes rollercoaster to determine the pole sitter and starting order of the top 20.

Peter Dimov (Virtual Racing School): After supporting the VRS SCO Sprint Series I am delighted to also have VRS become the title partner for the VRS SCO 24h of Spa. As a developer and supplier of simracing products and services, it is important for us to build an organic relationship with our customers as well as with top competitors. In addition, supporting not only professional sprint racing but also an endurance event strengthens the entire simracing community. We are excited to be the title partner for the VRS SCO 24h of Spa.

Ronald Großmann (Sports Car Open): I am incredibly grateful for the long-standing popularity of the Sports Car Open in the simracing community. I am particularly pleased that we are now able to expand our range even further and feature the VRS SCO 24h of Spa. The Sports Car Open has founded its activities on endurance racing, so adding a 24h race with the support of our great partners came naturally.

Morris Hebecker (Morphicon Media AG): We are pleased to add the VRS SCO 24h of Spa on top of the newly launched VRS SCO Sprint Series. Together with Sports Car Open and Virtual Racing School we manage to set up international GT racing at the highest possible level. I am very much looking forward to the race.

Arjuna Kankipati (Racespot): After a partnership of many years with Sports Car Open, we are delighted to be part of the next chapter with the VRS SCO 24h of Spa as well. We are united with Sports Car Open as we both have a long-standing history in endurance racing and therefor are pleased to be the broadcast partner for the VRS SCO 24h of Spa.
